Honestly, I could put on a pretty good show with mostly-untrained monkeys.  If they'd stay on the stage and not throw poop at the audience or draw blood from me or each other - they're MONKEYS.  Not a challenge to do a short thing with monkeys to look at...

I guess you need to figure out what's an adorably grotesque parody of humanity with your monkeys, and trick them into acting it out...

A competent MC who's a showman, MegaMind, can make a good show out of ANYthing.  I've told my MCing the joust story before...

One time I went to the zoo and a monkey kept climbing higher and higher up the net enclosure. I backed up to see what he was doing... trying to pee on me, he hit the spot I was standing at earlier.

Oh, this was actual work, not a show.  The freaks and clowns and I have a good working relationship, though.  They know the script, and they all do their parts.  The monkeys...well, when death is on the line, I like to know people will stick to script. 

They didn't.  We avoided death/dismemberment.  It's all good now, other than overtaxing my wrist, but that's nothing new.  Just the monkeys all know better than the script and all wanted to try THEIR way, at the same time, half of them countering each other, which left me with way too much of the problem on my own for a moment before I could whip them all back to script.
