I apparantly am going  to have to find a new source for candles. 

The source I bought from last year has stopped selling plain candles, and they're all now either dressed for spells or decorated for Catholics.  I was hoping it was just a Christmas thing with the sudden explosion of catholic saints, but the new shipment was all dressed.  While I wouldn't be opposed to burning a suitable spell (or 50) at the prices they are asking their dressing methods fail to impress me and I foresee too many problems to make it worthwhile.

So, they have new vanilla candles in place for Easter.     Seems the vanilla (plain, not the scent) ones are just around for holidays.  (there is a bit of a language barrier here)

So, now I have some decisions to make. 

Do we go with the 7 day candles of last year.  (all but the one by the head here)



Or with my new ones?



Or a mixture?  Or do I muddy up some of the 7 days like my new ones? 

I also need to be careful with the 7 days.  They had mixed up a spell one with my regulars last year.  Ironically, it was a spell to repell spirits, and was swiftly overpowered and REFUSED to stay lit.  (did not have this problem the next day, so wasn't a quality problem, when I noticed it was a spell candle mistakenly mixed in with the rest of my white ones.  In candle magic, this is indicative of resistance or failure of the spell.  Considering I do have some minor magics worked around the yard to specifically attract the right spirits, I found it funny, personally.)

Then, of course, there's the question of sticking to white, or moving on to red and/or black? 

Black is traditionally viewed as "evil" by hollywood, and can be usefull in that sense, and is usefull as protection in case I royally screw up some of the symbols I'm intending to be nonsense.  However, black wax doesn't get that nice luster that others do. 

Red is more rarely used for "evil", and has the property of increasing the energy of whatever workings, which could make it valuable if I pull everything off right, or potentially dangerous if I screw something up.

You'll be happy to know Tim Curry (who's portrayal of Pennywise is the source of many clown fears) is doing another clown horror movie.

The latest in the long line of Uno family drama I've been mostly silent about over here:

As predicted a few years ago, my brother is going down in flames.  They've kept it floating longer than I expected, sure.  This is taking both brothers down.  One terribly, the second I got no idea how hard a crash it's going to be.  No idea how much my parents have thrown onto the Titanic, either.  I'm the family [jerk, sphincter] for refusing to toss our future into it as well, and had resigned myself to that fate some time ago, hence no real need to talk about it.  . 

There's some legal bullcrap going on that might let them salvage something out of the wreckage. 

The good news:  I'm not going down with the ship, and foresaw this long enough ago to make SOME plans for my Halloween sound equipment, as I DO have a mixing board and serviceable speakers.

The Bad news:  I'm not 100% prepared, and will likely have sub-par sound this year as I won't have the concert grade speakers this year.    (SINCE I'm getting screwed on this.  I actually had an order in which won't be honored as a result of this crap...)

1:00~3:00 every use of a skelerector possible.  Yawn.  (fog machine fake fire ~1:20 is kinda neat, and bonus points for the manual skelerectors built into costumes at the end)

The spider at 4:10 is getting a lot of attention from the industry.  I question it's durability.

Bottom line, not a whole lot new to be excited about.  The push of more 'hands on' houses is driving more vendors, which will in turn drive more hands on houses.  I'm too old fashioned.

The worse news.  Decided I should break out all the stuff I had purchased for this eventuality and make sure my plan B was working.  Most notably a powered mixer from my brother. 

Well, they failed to include the proprietary power cord, so I'm screwed.
