The valve thing is a known issue that they have an easy correct for, working that, restarting clock soon assuming it works.

Funny which parts of the internal discussion they choose to broadcast and which they don't these days.  I'm used to more of a raw feed.

Their attempted fix didn't work right, I knew that from the long silence in the broadcast.

They're now 'troubleshooting'.

Sounds like they'll pick the count up at around the T minus 4 minute mark when/if they get it going.

Well, that's it for me, other things to do now.

They had a period of winds, but the big problem was a known fuel shutoff valve getting stuck open issue that had cropped up on previous Delta IV launches.  They had been able to fix them quickly in the past, but this one basically got frozen open.

They mentioned something about a 24 hour reset at scrubbing, didn't immediately know if that meant a launch window in 24 hours, or just how long it would take to get the tanks reset to safe for engineers to go look what went wrong.

Better safe then sorry. Wouldn't do NASA much good if the capsule was lost due to an exploding rocket.
Btw, is it true the Orion+service module is over half less massive then the old Apollo+service module outfit? I spotted that on this comparison pic posted ln the forum (can't fknd it back atm).
IIRC, 60,000+ lbs for the Apollo versus about 30,000 lbs for the Orion.

Uh...Don't know, but that sounds fishy, wouldn't need the big heavy rocket if that was the case.

edit:http://www.space.com/5900-orion-apollo-nasa-21st-century-moonshot.html

Sounds like it's almost backwards, gonna be twice the weight of apollo.

Or someone was comparing todays attempt to an apollo fully loaded for moon.  That would be about right.

It's up.
Due to return about 11:30am EST.

You are orphans, earthdeirdre, your homeworld already buried so young among the aeons. Yet now you fill the skies where we watched a million sunsets with flame and contrails, paying no heed to the hard lessons the universe has tried to teach you. Are you a breath of life to invigorate a complacent world, you earthhumans, or an insidious cancer which must be excised?
~Lady Deirdre Skye ’Conversations With Planet’
