I didn't like Picardo's EMH until years after Voyager was off the air.

His appeal now is like that a crack in the ceiling of one's childhood home. As an adult long since gone away, the crack has become a necessary part of one's authentic memory. What was once an annoyance is now irresistibly charming. How can it be otherwise? If the crack wasn't there, it wouldn't--couldn't--be home.

To modify a famous quote from Arthur C. Clarke, the writers did an admirable job of reminding us that a sufficiently "learned" AI can be indistinguishable from a quirky human being. Nevertheless, I think I'd have been sorely tempted to try a factory reset on the EMH on more than one occasion. He was, once too often, a self-centered buffoon.

That said, Picardo and his character had some really excellent turns in the final seasons, both comedic ("Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy") and dramatic ("Blink of an Eye" and "Critical Care").

Incidentally, one of my favorite stories in Star Trek is told in the novels. The July 1998 Pocket Books entry Fire Ship, in The Captain's Table series, really does Janeway justice.
"There's another old saying, Senator. Don't piss down my back and tell me it rains." - Julius Augustus Caesar, attrib.

Another grounds upon which I will defend Renegades, you ask?

How about the brilliant rogue helmsman Tom Paris having to play nurse because, somehow, he's the only crew member left with some degree of medical training!?...I consider his previous training was not much beyond first aid help because he seems unable to diagnose anything more complex. I would think most of the maquis, due to the nature of their conflicts with Cardassians and Starfleet, probably had serious field medic training, no?

Love the show but this didn't made much sense too me...let's punish Tom's buffoonery by making him play nurse!?

Seven probably had a full library of medical knowledge within her Borg implants. I think it would have been more helpful to her (and Janeway) quest to get her humanity back to practice Medicine and socialise with patients instead of just locking herself in the Astrometrics lab.

That is not a bad idea.

I would have shown Seven, off-duty and alone w/ Naomi Wildman, sitting on the floor playing with dolls - Annika Hansen was that age when she was assimilated.  It would fit to have them little girls together, notwithstanding those borg implants one very much noticed.

That would be a nice one shot.
They do get to play Kadis'kot while Seven is experiencing personality a disorder thanks to Borg Vinculum.

(I searched google for Seven plays with Naomi since I have the feeling I saw them being playful around each other and it got me this
http://sparklet.iwarp.com/scarlett-voyager.html...episode Infinite Regress)

When I think of Seven being more "human" I am always reminded of her first interaction with Harry Kim ;lol

Check Planet Tales for the stickied roundtable story beginning with my 7 idea above - it could be taken back up, still.  Please.

I need some context. I don't know what Planet Tales is. I'm still finding my bearings on navigating this forum :)

It's our fiction subforum, and the thread's here: https://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?topic=17648.0  Read that - there's a compilation of the whole story up to where it left off on the last page- and Do As Thou Wilt.

The trouble w/ post Enterprise is I ain't seenother than that awful movie in 09.  Others have, but I got nothin'.

Tuvix was ... not a hopeless idea character episode - but maybe they could have stuck the landing better.  I didn't feel the tragedy they clearly intended.

Janway was too harsh, phail in many ways.

I don't think the 2009 movie was that bad...of the trio I feel it was probably the best.
I didn’t care much for bad romulan miners guys though. Actually the main problem of this trio, for me, are the bad guys, excluding Cumberbatch's Khan, and overall stories which are kindda weak, not that previous Star Trek movies fare much better...looking specially at you Insurrection, Generations, Nemesis and Final Frontier.
The overall dialogue bits between main characters and the way this new cast portrayed them was pretty good imho and worthy of my time...still I would rather revisit the Voyage Home anytime rather than these :)

I've said this elsewhere but, please, give Lower Decks a chance, it's an odd to classic Trek right up to Entreprise. Catching all the references and easter eggs they throw at you from previous shows was really hard for me :)

The way Tuvix "resigned" to being culled was anti-climatic...Janeway was harsh, yes, but I respect her decision and I respect her character even more far taking the "knife to the lamb" when The Doctor refused.
There's the right way, the wrong way and the Janeway as they say...I have a coffee mug with that and picture of her :)

Stories live and die on the quality of the antagonists/problem-to-be-solved, that's for sure.

For some reason, Voyager was the one I most thought about how it could be fixed - Janeway would be the first out the airlock, for sure, if I had a time machine and means to impose my will...

Has anyone listened to the "Enterprise Incidents with Scott & Steve" podcast? They also posted the audio on YouTube. They discuss the original series in production order. Later the animated series, then the movies. I've only gotten 10 episodes in.
Your agonizer, please.

Time dilates as the speed of light approaches. To the extent that light consists of particles, it is in its own way, timeless. Through simple perturbations of the temporal manifold, we can refract or repel photons most efficiently.
