Alec wants to do the sorcerer's apprentice (lots of traditional/mythological monsters).

The Boss thinks we should do Harry Potter! 

But, there's the big mansion up the hill that does Harry Potter, turning their whole house into Hogwarts...and they don't do it ON Halloween anymore, but the weekend prior (though I assume next time Halloween falls on Saturday, it'll be ON Halloween).  hEt want's US to do all the DARK SIDE stuff, since they only have the happy fru-fru garbage up there. 

Not as huge a fan as the boss, trying to rack me brain if there's much to build on outside of dementors and the masks.  The whole KKK outfits of the deatheaters, only black, really rub me the wrong way, too.

You know a lot more about the Potter than I do already.  Somebody already fouling that theme sounds like a deal-breaker to me.

She works with the guy doing that theme, so, there's something of that there.  Do the opposite side of the coin, so to speak. 

FWIW, Harry Potter is a fairly common theme for haunters...but I've seen NO ONE do the dark side.

One Dark Halloween Night

Well, went the B movie route, was hoping for the bad monster hunter knockoff.  Still pretty hilarious.

I don't normally post in the INDOOR threat, because the INDOOR is the boss's domain, and there's hasn't usually been a whole lot going on.  However, over the last couple years she's come on over to the dark side.  This year it's already up. 

We grew all the mini pumpkins, the rest is stuff she's made/collected over the last few years.

I know I'm on the outskirts already for lighting primarily with torches...but I'm giving serious consideration to ditching even those in favor of even more intimate lighting.








Adding in 40 or so pumpkins to that area, and about twice the candles...I don't know, it bears some consideration.  Going to be running some more tests tomorrow.

So, after playing around tonight, one thing become abundantly clear:  If I'm going to do this, I need to get some candles up off the ground. 

HOW to do that is the question, and might portend a 'do it next year' thing. 

Overall, though, this really has some potential.





Anyhow, I have this setup, and was taking Tali out for a walk through it, and some random people are out walking.  Keep in mind, you can't see any of this from the front, but I went out front to turn on the sign, and we were just going to walk the loop around.  The dad remarks "46?" (on the sign) and one of the kids pips up "Days till halloween, silly!  This is the Halloween house!"

Hey, I've already got a little mini scene setup anyway, and just ask if they want to come see what I'm testing out. 

Some ~5 year old boy was THRILLED to walk past Fred, then turns the corner to see my skulls and candles and looks up at his dad "I don't want to go anymore."   His daughter didn't make it past Fred.
