Did they verify that the juice that is making it to the house are the correct phases??  They should be 120 degrees off from each other.  But if they are BOTH the same phase, then 2 phase things won't work...

Dunno.  I felt warm water coming out the kitchen faucet, but didn't wait to see how hot it got - wrong end of the house to be practical.  That's all I know, that those two d00dz, not electricians, thought it should have worked and are stumped, and that's all I know.  I haven't decided yet whether to take that makeup hot bath, or be cautious in case it's only intermittent...

I have just returned from that makeup hot bath - and I had to run some cold water to get it down to just right, not cook-me, so that's looking good, at least if there's hot water again in the morning after I ran the tank back out...

I'm not checking anything at this hour and upsetting Mom; it would, and her brother's coming early tomorrow, and will know what to do.

Uncle's uncle tells us they lost track and mixed up two lines splicing in the junction box Friday, so the two phases weren't set up right, the positive and negative switched on something.  I think I understood enough to translate it simply for Momma to tell Bossman Duke what needs doing, which ought to save a lot of fumbling.  I think she feels a lot of relief that her appliances aren't broke, and the problem's at the point Duke HAS TO fix, and it's findable and fixable, if they'll just send a competent electrician.  -I need to go see if the call's happened yet.  With keep updating when the power's on...

Boss Duke sent another two linemen unqualified to troubleshoot the problem, and didn't tell them crap, either - but we briefed as best we could, and they stayed on-task poking around and trying stuff until the stove was working.   Assume it's fixed unless I report different, and gentlemen, again, last two days would have been even more infuriating w/o your input Sunday helping Momma feel on top of things that much.

Momma ran a small load of wash to check the dryer this morning, load being dry now - which it wouldn't be if it had only centrifuged cold for 20 minutes.  I saw the dishwasher steam when she opened it mid-cycle to check last night - and I got her to go upstairs and turn on the heat to check, though I don't know if she made sure heat was coming out.  (I need to be careful about nagging; she was married to a world-class nagger or 40 years and sometimes I have to step off, this being one of those times.)  Otherwise, I think it's safe to call the rest okay.

BTW - I got Momma to do a proper test of the central air this morning - coming out toasty as a heat pump can in after a few minutes running.  I'm told the hot water heater was probably just heating real slow on 110 current, and Momma had taken a shower two hours before my bath Saturday night.  I believe -barring something on the list breaking later, which I pray doesn't happen for how Momma would freak more than the expense- that makes for everything now tested and satisfactory, and the 220 Incident can be rightly called wrapped up.

I'd been assuming the promotion meant you'd displaced the bad new boss in self-defense....

My position in the company is a little weird at the moment. 

I'm an expert at managing a particular portion of contracts.  On paper, our contract should have a staff of 5.  I've was doing it with 50% of my time before idiot was hired. 

With promotion, they want to move me to 75% on task (the contract grew leaps and bounds), and give me a couple IT folks that use 10% of their time to assist me on managing the contract.  I'm more than happy to outsource the data entry portion, so this arrangement works well on paper. 

The problem is idiot is so inept, it's taking me 80-90% of my time to do HIS job instead of just helping out. 

But, they have a job req out to take 50% of his job away, so that should help.
