Only VR and shooting zombies sound like potentially fun to me. Clowns and Chuckies/Talking Tinas/etc.  would be scarier, though.

Well, the paintball things have a horrid track record so far.  They are typically either a static stand with actors approaching, or a hayride type with them swarming the vehicle.  The latter are more popular, and several actors have been run over after 'dying'. 

A well done escape room would be my favorite, I think, but they are devilishly tricky to pull off right. 

I'm not sold on the whole VR thing, but it's probably my eye problems cropping up making me not get fully immersed.

Never done the VR thing, but I presume it's getting better all of the time. At least it would be safe.

I was thinking lasers as much as paintballs, less mess on the art, although I suppose the zombies improve with bloodstains.

The thing with VR is you take the group aspect out of the equation.  I don't think that's a good thing.

Well.  Going to be heading down another "sewing" adventure. 

The need to finish off the costume to go with my mask has been apparent for years.  I liked the cloak last year, from an acting standpoint.  And I REALLY tried to find one that would work.  I was left with springing ~$50 for one, then 'aging' it to get the look I want, or making my own. 

I identified other things I wanted from the costume as a whole, and we're going to attempt to make a cloak...perhaps an entire one piece costume if I can swing it, though I'm betting it'll take at least two. 

Primarily, I want to 'fit' in the same world as my monsters, so I'm dyeing a crapton of the same burlap netting I use to make the monsters.  I can fray it at the ends to make it look like the vines hanging off me, just like most my other creations get.  But, it'll continue to fray unless I have a base, so also dyeing a cheese cloth base to hold the burlap together where I want.

I guess you know you can make a surprisingly good cloak with nothing but a blanket and a rope, by lapping a couple feet worth over at the top and tying around the neck?  Gives it that Victorian/Mr. Hyde-looking bit of an extra, short,  I-don't-know-what-that's-called around the shoulders.  I got a fair amount of use out of that in my renfair days when it rained -also using it for a blanket on the road- though I cut/rounded off the bottom corners that tended to drag and sewed on a 'belt loop' (out of leftover corner) in back where it lapped over the rope to keep the blanket from deciding to slip on a rainy day.

How much do you need an actual cloak - and how much are you really aiming at a closed robe or something?

Maybe try the Mr. Hyde look with a blanket as a test?  Seems to me that's a sound basic design for a cloak, and the lap-over top of burlap would fray nicely above your elbows to turn into vines and roots and stuff, nicely complementing same at the bottom...

Everything about 3 blocks east of us has been evacuated.  Prevailing winds should keep it east, but I see it's also climbing the mountain, where the fire crews won't fight it as they save the houses below.  It could then get dangerous for our place.

Jumped the freeway, winds driving the worst of it west.  The eastern edge seems to be moving more south and away from us for now.  Morning winds should die down soon, then we might see them shift to the NW, which would be bad. 

Just evacuated my kids from school.  I'm out.
