That's something I could maybe put to use.  Certainly bears some thought.  I'm not sure what the overall theme there was supposed to be otherwise.

Job stuff. 

So, Boeing's opened a job. 

It's basically the one I got screwed out of 5 years ago. (though a different location)

Likely a non-trivial raise.  I'm being rather heavily recruited with a call from several within the corporation, hinting it was put in at a higher level specifically with me in mind. 

Here's the thing.

I REALLY hold grudges, and while I didn't burn any bridges, I was not happy with my exit.  (I technically quit, but it was a 'there won't be a job here in 6 months so start looking' situation)
I REALLY like to finish things I start, and me getting in on the ground floor HERE was part of the attraction to THIS job, and I'm finally getting a bunch of the things I've been pitching since I started. 
The facility its at is a bit of a drive and to the middle of nowhere.  (though it's a whole other ecosystem and thus interesting from a bug standpoint)

The raise is nothing to sneeze at. 

Boeing is taking the system I developed there, and adding the one I developed at TASC.  The thing is right down my lane of expertise. 
The facility in question is an utter disaster, in that the previous person refused to follow my system, retired a few years ago, and was never replaced, making the job a nightmare, which is what I specialize in, cleaning up nightmares.  (though one would imagine a day I've got it cleaned up and it's just easy maintenance at some point, usually by the time I've got something cleaned up they find me a new disaster)
That facility has a remarkably low turnover rate.  Hard to tell as an outsider, but I think they kind of have their own little community developed.  It's THAT far out of the way.  Solid 20 minute drive from civilization.  It used to be a dead zone as well, not sure how the signal jammer is set up these days. 
More interesting work ('dirty' work again) than what I'm doing presently. 
IIRC 4-10 work schedule EVERY Friday off. 


Unless policy has changed, I'd maintain my previous years for all accrual issues, so have 4 weeks of vacation a year. 


Job security will be a question I'd need to ask. 
I'm technically retired from Boeing, so that's going to be another question. 


I'm gonna apply, we'll see what happens.  Best case scenario I can use it as leverage to get a raise here.

Well, there's something to be said for a 4-10 work week, a personal favorite.  Time alone in the car, and getting  off of the grid isn't  a bad thing either, if you ask me.

Normally I'd be all for it. 
Factoring in ~hour commute it makes for long days.  Where I'm the primary cook for the family as well, it could make dinner a pain. 

My present 9-80 shift (9 hour days, every other Friday off) is this happy middle ground between a standard and a 4-10.

Torn. On one side, the amount the raise would likely be would be welcome, considering the increased house payment that's coming our way when the house is complete. On the other, I'd likely have to start cooking more (not my fave, and Uno's better at it anyway), and I have a few hard feelings toward Boeing as well. I worry about the stability of contract work, the 9 months I was the only income were stressful for me. Ultimately, though, I just want Uno to be happy at work.

If the $ wasn't an issue, it wouldn't have been quite as bad.  I'd still go insane though.
