Stranger things

Just finished watching the Netflicks Season One of Stranger Things and it was Awesome! Great mix of Scifi, Thriller, Horror and Drama that is set in the mid to late 80's (pay and rotary dial phones, The Thing on VHS, DnD 2nd Ed). Would love to get UnO's take on it....  especially the monster...

Start of episode 1 hooked Talia immediately.

Definite dropoff from #1, shades of Twin Peaks. 

Frighteners styled creature in wall sighting.  (use may predate Frighteners, but that movie made it ubiquitous)

More Frighteners-wall-beast action.  Better than 2, but pacing is still off kilter, bringing more Twin Peaks feel.

camera 'broke'  Not that a pentax of that vintage would break so easily.  Still thought the camera was key

Episode 4:

Pacing nailed this episode.  Beast outside of the wall looks familiar, but I can't immediately trace the inspiration.  Definite Japanese horror feel to it.

Girl sees something in one of the pics from the camera.  I'm rather bored with the cliche mystery research facility being incredibly stupid in general in the genre, and this series' version is being especially stupid

My problem here is the implication that being creepy is trolling and amoral by default.

It's an inference, BTW - what I meant to imply is that there's a certain pretense to evil(ishness) involved, though you're actually the sober family man and a superhero not just to them, but at work - and no doubt other contexts you don't always mention here.  Mr. Halloween devil guy does teh good works on the sly...  Arguably a massive troll, if reversed, and moral/whatever inferred opposite is a matter of appearances...

* I know this is a random crap with Uno thread, but I hope he doesn't mind me putting up a random crap with Dale since I don't usually have enough for a whole thread. 

Checked the gravity of my home brew strawberry and pear cider.  Still not ready, maybe a couple more days of fermenting to go.  If anyone knows what it all means, the SG is 1012 at the moment.  Aiming for a settling point of 1007 which will give an alcohol reading of ~4.7-4.8%.

It's been pretty cold around here this last week, so I'm not surprised it's going to take a couple more days.

Hmmmmm........ took a reading today. It's 1011. I might be at the end of the run.

I'll check again tomorrow.

Bottled it last night.  Tastes fantastic!

Now to let it prove and carbonate for a week.... then drinkies!
