Don't know, honestly.  I think we inherently lack the context to judge, not being in Iraq at the time.  All we know is he did his job, didn't get detained for any great length afterword, therefore didn't commit any great crimes or garner much hostility from the locals while doing it.  You can't say that for many in the regime.

You know what?  Not sucking up to hEt here, but I've concluded that you really are honest-to-God a VERY lucky man to have her, and not because she's out-of-your-league pretty.

You know, with her you're a weirdo -God bless- but really a respectable family man, responsible, sober, and a good husband and father really making a go of life.   Had she not been on the market for a bad boy when she met you -and sir, you know by now what very high regard I hold you in for your astonishing gifts at so many things, and as a moral person for all your love of trolling IRL with all the creepyman stuff- my buncle powers see a much more bitter lonely man today without her steading influence.  Like weird enough to put up with your weird, normal enough for kids and a house in the 'burbs, and I think you needed the steady, and the touch of normal.  -She got a Super(anti)hero who can do anything, you got a Lois Lane who doesn't fall out of windows and gives you reason to live and smile.

My problem here is the implication that being creepy is trolling and amoral by default. 

It took a fair amount of time to just accept the creepy instead of trying to bury it, and not giving a damn what the larger public thinks of it.  And yes, hEt played no small part in that.  I only actively troll those who piss me off. 


Speaking of not giving a damn about the public, I've decided on Sunday for our pumpkin party.  With everything in the house going to be a cluster at the time, I won't be in the mood to further inconvenience myself.  Let the neighbors decide whether it's appropriate for their beliefs or not.  It also frees them to have the church party on the Saturday without me ruining it (because more come to my party when there's a conflict). 

I'm probably only doing the front yard this year as well, and maybe only a display as opposed to full on walkthrough.  Gonna stick hardhats on father/mother/any other props and put up a 'pardon our dust' sign saying we'll be back in 2017.

You have a certain impulse to shock people, and don't try to deny it, man; game knows game.  It's something I'm poor at always suppressing in myself.  Some people make it so easy, it's hard not to torment them for my own amusement.  -It's easier to suppress the impulse online because of so many immature practitioners muddying the water with poor technique, substituting loudness and vicious persistence for any virtuosity, and leading me to view intense trolling online as profound cowardice.

Now me - I avoid the people who cheese me off to the extent I can, and troll my friends, not playing for blood and according to what I think they'll mind.  It's probably all to the good that my circle of buddies here aren't much of the temperament/sense of humor for that.  (Dale is easy meat, but not playing for blood gets in the way of that...)
