It's probably been 10 years or more since I last pulled out the halloween cutters.



My Chimera needed some attention...

After being OUTSIDE the ENTIRE YEAR.  A year that saw winds RIP THE ROOF OFF THE HOUSE, he needed a little shoring up at the joints...and that's it. 



And, since early October is mostly just goofing around with things at our place, I figured we'd honor breast cancer awareness by making him PINK.




But, some neighbors were getting a little nervous at the lack of visible activity this year (and strange things like selling off pumpkins) so I had to get the sign out, at the very least.

I hope the Halloween cutters were for salt dough or something, and those aren't big cookies on the garage floor as it appears.

I feel that way when a graphic modder I taught gets good.  That's a lot of progress away from the generic, rather predictable stuff of last year.

Which is a lot of the difference between art and hackwork (or more accurately, what I call "pipe-cleaners-and-glitter crafts").  He clearly started with some craft and skill - add better creative choices, and there's art.

So, the long range forecast is showing our annual storm arriving on Oct 26 this year.  (We ALWAYS have a storm within 7 days of Halloween)This isn't terrible, there's very little non-waterproof we have this year, just concerned it'll slip into either the party or Halloween itself.  (the party would actually be worse for us).  I'll probably leave the tomb out of the weather (unless it's on halloween) even though he'd most likely be perfectly fine.  It's more a question of whether wind comes with the rain. 

Speaking of, long range is listing a bit of a breeze for Halloween.  I'm hoping that gets removed or it'll ruin the whole ground fog effect.  Ironically rain would be very GOOD for it.  Especially a cold rain. 

Resisting the urge to build something else this year.  Even headstart items for NEXT year.   I'm normally all rushing around finishing things, not having stuff to do is strange.

Uno, you're white - it just doesn't seem the same to you.

Granted that it gets INSANELY annoying when everyone is under pressure to never offend anyone - that's been the ruination of far too much popular entertainment, and why anything, for example, to do with God on TV shows is so bland and generic that any church people with brains in their heads ought to be offended by THAT.

No, I get a lot of it.  The hanged dummies get a complaint just about every year, and I understand those.  I understand nooses in general are a no-no.  This is stretching it.  There's no nooses, they are hung by string.  I'm not seeing lynching victims AT ALL.  Frankly, it looks a lot more like a lynch mob than a bunch of victims ( last time I checked they didn't typically dress up their victims).  All the (black) people interviewed in the video agree with me. 

Guess it's a lesson to not make your ghosts in human form.  Cut the bottom of the robes and shred them to waft in the breeze and it's much less 'human' in appearance.

The whole white sheets thing is a problem, what with the associations they raise, even though they make no rational sense.  This isn't much about rationality, and it's a very unfortunate juxtaposition...

still far enough out to be nebulous, but extended forecast is for rain/wind/snow on Halloween now. 


I'm actually OK with that, provided our party remains clear.
