Welcome to the forums...(IN BEFORE BU!!!)Good question.I have heard you guys have boot camp to run Windows under OS X? That could be a possibility. Also brings the question up of SMAX under WINE for the Linux distros.
I have tried it on Mountain Lion, that's 10.8, right? It works fine.
From what I can tell, the Mac version is probably designed for an architecture other than Intel x86 (Macs moved over to x86 some years after SMAC/SMAX were released), which makes unofficial patching substantially more difficult (it means learning a whole new language, possibly with a new way of doing things.) It might be that GOG's version is different, though, but even so it'd probably have to be redone as a whole, making it a lot of work when I'm sure that emulators can provide an alternative.
You CAN apply any unofficial mods/patches to the mac version.I was happy to see that they were in fact using encapsulation (in this case some version of Wine), because that means that we don't need Mac specific binaries. It isn't the most efficient, but with a game this old, it doesn't really matter.
