...In the sense of government and power maneuverings maybe, not so much in the sense of the proceedings involving democracy...

What was the political manoeuvre called again? Oh yes, military adventurism to draw attention away from domestic issues.

Next up! Unmarked military forces take over key settlements in Trumpland! Melting down Iglo's is proposed as retaliation for interference of said invasion!

Masks.

As a Boomer baby I was brainwashed by TV, so I probably still have a bias. On the news the Klansmen were the mask wearing bad guys. But they weren't the only ones. As I recall, the Munich Olympic terrorists wore masks as well.  And various bank robbers, back when banks had the cash, before the invention of Wal-Mart Super Centers.

Then there were all of the cowboy tv shows, and the cop and robber tv shows. Except for The Lone Ranger, Batman, and Zoro ( and they wore eye masks, not face masks) anybody in a mask was a bad guy.

Why do federal agents need to wear masks?

If they are under cover they would be in plain clothes. If they are proud of what they are doing they would show their faces and badges.

I can't come up with a good answer. It's not like they are DEA agents arresting drug kingpins and fear that contracts will be put out on them to eliminate all witnesses before the trial. If ICE ever arrested a major criminal illegal immigrant they would crow about it, just to prove Our Great Leader was right.

On the other hand, if they were ashamed of what they were doing, or what they have done in the past they just might wear a mask. I wonder if any of them were Proud Boys, Neo-Nazis, Klansmen, or Jan. 6th Insurrectionists. Or maybe some of them could be ex police and ex prison guards & ex military who lost their jobs for not following the rules. Or maybe they have criminal records. Maybe they are deadbeat dads. Or have restraining orders.

Well, if the identified ICE agent from the Minneapolis shooting is anything to go by, at the very least the guy's working history is now public record.
And I can well imagine a couple drug cartels/gangs would love to put a bounty on him due to his history as a border guard.

Though I have no idea how his identity became public. The Minneapolis Investigation team? Some diligent data mining by an anti-government group?

In any case, I fail to see the benefit of an (armed) agency roaming the streets and picking up people at random to check identities (or worse). That sounds to me as a task for the local Police Department. The whole picture seems to me eerily similar to methods used in dictatorial countries (to put it mildly).

He was living in Minnesota at the time. When people saw and heard him everywhere, it didn't take long for him to be recognized.

On the positive side, while [Sleezebag] seemed to have a hard base of 3 out of 8 people, that seems to have slipped to about only 2 out of 8. I think there are two reasons 1) he now seems to be part of the Epstein File deep state conspiracy, 2) he seems to be part of the heavy-handed tyranny 2nd Amendment Americans have been preparing to fight against all of their lives.

Time dilates as the speed of light approaches. To the extent that light consists of particles, it is in its own way, timeless. Through simple perturbations of the temporal manifold, we can refract or repel photons most efficiently.
