Because when I attempted to launch the previously installed version on my computer, it consistently crashed instantly. It was only after I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall that I realized the root cause: Flash had reached its end of life. Oh well, time to switch to GOG.

Yep, I ran into the same problem around a year ago.  Attempts to install Flash replacement players or to bypass the intro didn't work either.
