Jupiter looks like it has a face in hilarious new photo

You might not see it at first, but a new photo processed by a citizen scientist has given Jupiter a bit of a personality.

In the image, two of the planet’s oval pearl storms sandwich a dark swirl of menacing clouds, giving Jupiter a face.

Nicknamed “Jovey McJupiterface,” the image was snagged by NASA’s JunoCam in May from an altitude of about 12,000 miles. The image was then rotated 180 degrees and oriented from the south up to properly convey the face featured on the planet.

NASA makes it easy for any old Joe to access and process images by JunoCam—many of which we’ve featured already. In fact, check out all of the really cool ones in the gallery above.

And, because I couldn’t help myself, I’ve added arms to McJupiterface to make her feel a little more lifelike.
