Tachyon 12, Shard 13

This probably qualifies as a "very minor detail", but...

I've long wondered why the weapon progression goes 1-2-4-5-6-8-10-12-13-16-20-24-30.  It seems like 14 would be a better choice.  Thoughts?
I wonder if this is a leftover from the days when the "triad" weapon system was envisioned.

No idea, but then again, due to cost issues, I've never given it much thought.

Until fusion power is available, either missiles or particle gun are the most economical weapon. WITH fusion, upgrade aircraft and vehicles to chaos guns. Once the game starts heating up technologically, I just skip right to shard weapons; cost isn't that much higher, and the power ends up worth the price in materials.

Yeah, sure enough.
Would be interesting to run some sims on weapon performance against readily available armor at that level of tech.

The boundary between cold water and warm, the Thermocline, has been important to undersea warfare for hundreds of years of man's history. Now we have found away to harness that power for constructive purposes. Once what cloaked us can now feed us. Once what shielded us from death, now brings us life.
~Captain Ulrik Svensgaard 'The Ripple and the Wave'
