This is not to do with that.  I do recall the commercial, but it was no inspiration.

-However I ate in the Manhattan McDonalds about that time, and they did have a pianist in a white suit playing Mack the Knife - no mask, though.

Yeah, we had at least a dozen at our place.  Mostly those storebought jobs next to her, but one kid had clearly made his own. 

And whether it was your inspiration or not, it certainly triggered that in my brain.  I think it's high time for that commercial to make a return actually, such a fun character.  (though I understand it's being used for racist memes now, though I haven't personally seen them) 

What clay are you using there?

Crafter's Closet^tm Oven-Bake Clay - think Sculpey, but a little (annoyingly, for this) softer.

I loaned her a roughly 7' dogwood staff, and the Jesus stick, and she was sporting the latter at this event - there were at least three Halloween parties she attended, I hear.

I gave her the hat, too -Mom made it for my last renfaire outfit, and I never used it on account of it sucking- and for a wonder, she likes the lame thing.

Ok, random...I dig the pumpkin tree, but what is that corn-ish plant in the background?

Some ornamental bush, unless you mean in the first, third and last two pics above - which looks to me like actual corn stalks put out for decoration.

The stone building in the background, I attended sixth grade in the very last year it was a school; it's been re-purposed as a cultural community center thing, having a passably large theater in the center, and I believe Geo will attest that the whole structure looks sort of a huge castle from the road.

The last picture.  I don't see any tassels atop which usually rules out CORN propper.

Hmm.  All the outdoor shots she's standing are clearly in heavy wind - it was gusty for quite a while after the hurricane.

But that might be an overachieving local breed of a grassy/broomstrawish plant - there might even be some growing in an island of the building's parking lot...

I'm having, btw, considerable trouble figuring out how to make the sun-face.  I did a shell on the new Captain Sunday night.

I've got a clear enough idea of how it should look -obviously, a face set in a circular plane that's bordered by ray/triangles- but not how to build that as a mache base, just yet...
