“While the pitch-black bun gives the Halloween Whopper sandwich a look that may make some think ‘hmmmmm?’ the burger’s classic A.1. flavors will have tasters saying ‘mmmmm,'” Burger King said.

Burger King has been selling colored Whoppers in Japan. As part of a summertime promotion, the chain sold “samurai burgers” with red or black buns.

In the U.S., the black Whopper has 710 calories, 43 grams of fat and 1.5 grams of trans fat. That makes the nonblack Whopper look relatively slim, with its 650 calories, 37 grams of fat and 1.5 grams of trans fat.

The black-bunned Whopper is only the latest of a series of experiments that Burger King is conducting. It recently launched a “burger merger” with several other burger chains, including Wendy’s, to create hybrids of their rival burgers.

While the Whopper looks appetizing, it appears to have some unpleasant residual effects in the toilet. People have been taking to Twitter to say the black bun is turning their poop green.

The hashtag #greenpoop started to trend, and some people say they want to try the sandwich to see if it really happens. Others are upset at Burger King and want an explanation about the black dye’s health side effects.

Corn has arrived. Not sure if it'll be enough, and it's been stored differently than I normally do, so was at a loss how to handle it till I need it. Just relegated to the fact it's going to be a mess and need to find somewhere to put it away till we need it. Have to see what the weather brings that last week before putting it up, and plan on a time when I can medicate myself into oblivion after.

Kyle also rounded up a bunch of teens and we got mother moved to her post. Her shadowed figure was awesome from the sidewalk this morning.

On the docket for the upcoming weekend:

Probably last Friday at Lagoon.
Another dump run, more stuff to clear out, and need to get the trailer cleaned out for reed grass, coming soon.
Dracula run on Saturday. hEt's been involved with this one. Charity to help Romanian orphans. Naturally you have to use Drac. Again, I'm more of a shamble than a run.
Time to harvest the raven grass, and get the gates set up. See how much extra we have this year. The corn tunnel "roof" last year didn't work well with people in inflatable costumes, so need to decide how to use it.
Prepping for the contest on Tuesday. Need to get Father buttoned up and wires and chords up and hidden for the contest.

The Halloween forecast seems to be slipping to the left a bit. Now the biggest storm is on the party, not Halloween, and it's snow, not rain. Keep slipping...

It sounds, based upon your descriptions, that you own sufficient land to grow a decent amount of crops. Any worthwhile land at a reasonable price in this area requires an individual to look outside the city into the desert.

I personally own practically no land.

Pumpkins from a farmer. Corn from a neighbor who's family owns land. Reed grass will come from irrigation ditches, and is an invasive species. Raven Grass is my own I've been cultivating for about 8 years now. It's not "meant" to be used as decor.

I guess that means Unorthodox maintains decent connections with certain people in his community. The community around my area remains fairly fragmented because most products come from other locations. Hand moisturizer remains a product that I know partially originates from our area.

I grew up working for a farmer and have kept contact with a lot of those people and have a good name as an honest worker and patron that way, but they are a dying breed with the Internet and social media and whatnot.

The pumpkins are coming from good old fashioned networking from a farmer that doesn't advertise at all anywhere.

The corn stalks I'm getting thanks to Facebook and my wife's friend list.

The reed grass is always available out along the desert. I'll get a pic when we go harvest.

I imported the Raven grass from Michigan and afaik was the first one to use it for decor. The local amusement park does now as well. I prefer it to corn stalks for decor but don't have the qty to solely use it.

There's probably a healthy dose of karma involved too. Might get the orchard idea done properly this year thanks to a chance tree felling we were able to pick over today.

Other than having to take Kyle to the er it's been a good day.

I believe the most important aspects of social networking in those workplaces remain trustworthiness and honesty in deals that an individual makes with other people. I wish that many other businesses followed the above model *sigh*.

So...

Talia took 3rd place in her age at the Dracula run, which was neat, especially when I know some of the other kids in that division got carried or pushed in strollers.

She was TRYING to beat her brother, though, who was really dogging it. He ran off at the start, but Talia and I (walking) had caught up to him by the half way mark, at which point he ran off again. When we had again caught up to him in another half mile, she wanted to run and try to beat him.

Got the gates up, but not all the Raven Grass harvested.

Kyle stole my evening on Saturday with an impromptu trip to the E.R. He apparantly forgot he had to chew his food while at his friend's house, and got something stuck.

At least I got an xray pic out of the trip.

In something of a quandry over my costume this year:

I want to try a new product/technique for makeup.
Talia's costume is so fun it would be fun to be a companion piece, which lends itself to Green Man territory.
You look at Green Man for autumn, and you can't ignore the obvious tie to the Horned One.
I have some wicked horns I could use...
That very well may be seen by the ignorant (of which it's probably safe to assume no one around here knows the Horned One) as Uno just embracing Lucifer.
"Make it a skull mask with the horns"
Then you won't be doing the makeup you want to try...

Scarecrow contest starts tomorrow. Need to wrap up Father's wires, and pack everything tonight.

Mixed feelings today.

On one hand, tis SCARECROW DAY!!! Halloween officially begins tonight. I've literally not been this excited for anything since April 2013.

About 9 hours now till we go drop off, and I CAN'T WAIT! Didn't sleep because of it, even.

So, let's celebrate with some hilarity:
