The new neighbor started setting up, as expected from us weirdos.  I'm sure I'll start getting questions when I'm going to start. 

No lighting yet, and aside from a slew of Spirit products (including one I even considered a few years ago), there is a very nice Pumpkin monster. 

It's CLEARLY based on the original creeper and source of inspiration of mine:



Most likely derived from instructions from one of the multitude of imitators.  No bifurgcation, more upright, a lot of the people don't even KNOW of that original, since that site's been shut down for about 10 years. 

Robert there now does concept art for video games and has no time for Halloween. 

anyway, it was too dark, I'll get pics of their monster later. 

It's above average on the attempts I've seen. 

Bridge redesign about 80%.  There are going to be some bugs at assembly we'll have to work out.  Crazy busy this weekend between the bridge and shuttling kids around.

I hope for his sake he did exactly that smile a lot at the party.  That's the handsomest Emmett Kelly-style clown I ever seen.

Oh, Emmet Kelly is the quintesential Hobo Clown.  However, to those that have studied clowning, Alec is actually a Tramp clown subset of the Hobo Clown.  Think more Freddie the Freeloader.  He wanted to be a Hobo Clown based off the Devil's Carnival version, however, it would be a crime to cover that hair, so we come up with a general take off the genre for him. 

I actually quite messed up his makeup.  Given I had all of 20 minutes it's not completely awful, but it doesn't do him the justice he deserves. 

The really nice thing about clown makeup in general is it serves to amplify the actor's expressions.  This one can go REALLY creepy in a REAL hurry, and Alec is more than capable of pulling that off.  There's a whole nuance to the distressing on the jacket that doesn't come across in the picture, but I can play up later if he decides to stick around and help us out this year, for instance. 

I was coaching him for the shot, having him ham it up.  Unfortunately, it read more creepy at the dance apparently. 

Other random crap:

Lagoon Fridays are almost over.  This coming week should be good, then it'll be a mess and too crowded. 





I was kind of watching, Lagoon had bought a lot of the Gemmy props available commercially to the average person.  This week marked the 'they just don't work anymore' threshhold.  So, 3 weeks in a commercial setting...

Long range forecast now has the week leading to Halloween rained out. 

That's fine, except we need our party clear.

They're a bit cliche, but far from suck.  Sounds like they are a mixed breed.  The mom is a builder more interested in classical /interesting where the dad is more buy all the zombie stuff. 

They put a bunch of stuff back away, only very basics out or I would have got a picture.  We'll see how it developes.  I'm sure they're wondering what in the world is up with us as we really don't have anything out.  And really, compared to a lot of folks, we really DON'T put out a lot of stuff.

We'll move Mother into position at some point this week, and start getting the gates done.  Not looking forward to moving her.  She'll be more visible from the sidewalk at that point, though. 

Also have some cornstalks that were supposed to drop off last night.  Hoping it'll be enough, but I really don't know how many there are yet.
