Well, it's from the writer/director of Trick R Treat, which I have a love/hate relationship with.  Writing/Directing this.  IF he's shooting for a PG-13 something akin to a Gremlins successor, I'll drag the kids to it in the theater. 

If, like Trick R Treat, he purposely adds nonsensical themes specifically to get an "R" rating "because real horror movies are rated R", I'll wait for it to be on my TV/netflix.

(for the record, he didn't even add a HORROR scene to Trick R Treat, but rather 20 seconds of straight up porn or rather a character watching a porn video to get the R.  Random SIDE character, no less.  Useless scene.  Easily editted and it becomes something I can enjoy with my kids.  Piss me off to no end.  And...well, Krampus leaves a LOT he could add in that realm if he's into that kind of thing/after shock value)

Concept:  An Unorthodox Halloween is a Pac-Man rippoff.  (Creep-Man?)

Wouldn't be horribly difficult, if tedious and time-consuming, to generate a .gif of a game screen playing part of a level.  What would the little profile EarthO'Lantern be gobbling?  How to portray angry/creeped-out Mormon neighbors as the ghosts?  What does the level look like?  Everything needs that eight/16 bit look, of course...

I sorta want to actually do this, so do kibitz.

Hmm...

I'd say take one of my big fears, still and make the ghosts aliens.  Tying this back to the yard easy enough, you could have the board be a corn field, the maze being crop circles, the power pellets would have to be jack o lanterns, and the 'food' that pops up would be skulls.  Should be easy enough to find bit art for most that.

I think PacMan level screenies will be insanely easy to find and study, and I guess I need to do that first. before I begin drawing stuff.

I reckon the aliens can come out of the (cursory) house at the center, and your yard is the play area.  It needs to be square, so crop circles would be a problem. Unless we're doing an advanced level with a lot of wasted corner.

So give me a rough schematic of a maze that I can draw up as the level.  I think I want to keep it down to 500x, 800x500 at most - it'll be a BIG .gif file even that small if the sprites can be made to work at that size.

How much can we pack in in about 10 seconds?  If I can't keep it under 100 frames, too big a file to be wieldy, again.

I never played much pacman, so if you weren't too young at the time, I'm open to guidance...

It's more just my way of coping last year.  I'm at once saddened I didn't take more pictures of last year, and yet don't care to look at any of them. 

Could do Jim better.  Jim deserves better.  Maybe one day.

Yeah, I saw it last year, and I like the idea, but don't like THE PICTURE behind your work.  The picture I do like for that area wouldn't work well for your work. 

IMO crop circles don't need to be circles.  I've always wanted to do aliens, and getting you to do a "Signs" tribute on the sly is hilarious...

Seriously, Aliens seem the easiest to do and make lots of sense.

The hint of red I put in the shading might be a slight problem, but copy/pasting that animated EOL into a different shadowy setting would be easy if you've got something right for it...  It definitely wasn't no work, but the hard part's already done, so I'd like to see it please you as much as intended.
