It'll most likely still be drying it's wings by the time I get home.  I want to give the kids a chance to feed it, so will keep it at least till tomorrow, maybe through till Saturday.  Depends how the cats react once it starts fluttering.

The new industry model has claimed another victim. 

Saw discount tickets for Nightmare on 13th this morning.  They've fallen prey to the new business model, and it deeply saddens me.  The idea is you take your space, and instead of doing a haunt for, say, $15...you do THREE!  For the bargain price of $20!!! 

I hate this model.  As a customer, you're not getting any more entertainment.  In fact, you're getting less since you now have 3 lines to wait in.  The smaller haunts lend themselves to be just a jumble of junk rather than have a story line as well.  Just terrible all the way round. 

Especially troubling since Nightmare on 13th got rid of their 'Nightmare theater' to make room for this.  One of the best gimmicks I've ever seen, TOP of the line animatronics/show that would play while you were in the queue line.  Frankly it was always better than their haunt to begin with. 

Then to add insult to injury, one of the haunts is "Dark Harvest".  Seriously?  Because...what are you harvesting in this INDOOR haunt again?  Come on people, some things just don't belong. 


In other news, Lagoon (the local amusement park) is offering character dining! I've always remarked that what made Halloween at Lagoon so much better than the rest of the year was the characters.  Only during Halloween did you have characters entertaining you, and opportunities to go up and meet them/get pics.  Both original creations, and your classic Frankenstein, Wolfman, etc.  Well, guess they found a way to make money off the photo ops.  Dinner, private shows, just nickel and dime BS. 


With us not having the season passes this year, attending a 'normal' haunt is on the radar.  Kinda debating whether to head way out to the haunted forest or maybe trying one of the corn mazes.  Always wanted to do one of those.

Yeah, for haunted houses it's the 'build 3 really small  but "separate" haunts instead of one quality one' model. 

As long as people keep forking over $ though, the shell game will continue.

Gorgeous moon, temps in the 40s.  LOVELY morning. 

Preparing to wage war on the slugs tongiht.  They've done pissed me off, you don't mess with the pumpkins.  Anyone have a good slugicide? 

We'll be ripping out all the vines and tilling the ground tonight.  Friday evening looks like a superb time to bait/spray/poison/whatever.  With most other food sources thus removed, should make any bait/poison most effective.
