I don't do youtube how-to's mostly because my process is far too disjointed for video.  Best correlation would be my moderatorship on Halloweenforum, but there's little reason to single out ME there.

What a wonderful cap to a week from the abyss. 

Supposed to be off today, the entire reason I went in was to meet some idjits who never showed and I had to track them down. 

Then to top it off some uppity up in the research project called me a moron (politely).  Told me I needed to take their training class because they have no record of monarchs on this species of milkweed, at this elevation, temp, etc, and I likely had queen butterflies, not monarchs.  "It's an easy mistake for the untrained eye."  I sent them a few of the papers that have my name in them, tons of pics I've been documenting this, and told him he's welcome to come train me any time he wants, or he can start filling in the glaring hole that is Utah in his data.   

And now the Raiders look like total crap.

You should do what you think is best given your circumstances. Seeing as to how I do not know all circumstances, that is best thing I can say.

If I didn't have it on good authority it was legit, I would swear this whole thing is a scam.  They again have said I need to buy some tags that come with a nice training video and everything.  They can shove it. 

Anyhow, working on a light board, I think I got it nearly functional, maybe tomorrow.

If the monarchs overwinter in Utah, will they know which direction to migrate in the spring? 

Maybe that's a stupid question. If they're released at the right time they'll go the right direction, won't they?

Well, this is the generation that migrates.  It's assumed that our population overwinters in California, but there's some anomalies that mean that may not be 100% true.

The migration sometimes takes several generations, and it's not really known how they know the way, nor why generations seem to have different purposes.  Migrating generations have shorter lives but stronger wings, overwintering populations live MUCH longer than the migrating ones, etc.
