Random crap with Uno.

Went to a local mom and pop craft store to get the clay.  They are as cheap as using a coupon at one of the chain stores for this particular clay, more expensive on some other items.  While there, I noticed a ton of jars I can use to make candles were on sale, so I grabbed up a bunch of those, and some various other supplies.  All told I had more than $100 in the cart.  I wheel up to the register: "Hey, you bought clay here before didn't you?" 

"Yeah, we bought a bunch last year."

"You were building that big thing for Halloween, right?  How did that turn out?"

"Oh, the tomb turned out great, wish I had a picture on me to show you.  We ended up selling him." 

"Just a minute." 

-comes back with owner.

"We're totally giving you a discount." 

(Manager)"We've been watching your work on your website and would like to become a sponsor, if you're open to such a thing.  We'd also be happy to sell any of your items here in the shop if you need an outlet." 

Seriously?? And who said good things never happen to good people!

Ordering seeds...

Baffling how many seeds I'm planting this year.  8 varieties of pumpkins, 3 varieties of corn, 2 beans, all just for Halloween. 

Ok, the corn's for eatin' too.  Well, 2 of the varieties are. 

Maybe a few pumpkins will get eaten.  Any luck we'll be selling again. 

Beans were mostly for the three sisters, hence went with ornamental varieties to increase bee traffic.

How much will not be eaten?

Probably very little of the beans.  They're not great eaters.  I'll likely eat a few as they sprout, but that's it.  Mostly planting for the flowers to bring bees to the pumpkins, and to add nitrogen to the soil for the corn. 

Planting 2 waves of corn for eating (an early corn and a later one), and most of it will get eaten, though might end up selling some as well.  A third variety is only good for animal feed, planting specifically because it makes great stalks for decoration. 

Might eat 2-3 pumpkins, last year we grew 35 at our house, I'm planting more than double the plants (does not mean double the harvest).  What's not eaten gets sold or carved.  Carved ones get composted. 

2 french varieties being planted, one we had last year and did OK, but not great, decided to try it again because they tasted good, and I want to try the pumpkin cookies I utterly failed at again. 

The second is a BROWN pumpkin with a deep orange meat inside.  Should make for some interesting jacks, and is supposed to be excellent eating. 

Luminas will by my primary harvest (white pumpkins), as they did great last year.  Doubling up on them. 

Sugar pumpkins are a neccessity.  Normally used for pies, I need some smaller ones so I can impale them this year. 

3 varieties of mini pumpkins for my daughter (came as a mix), planning to trellis them up the chainlink fence.     

The family heirloom pumpkins at my Uncle's as usual.

I'm adding some monster mud holders to mine, but I'm apparantly out of monster mud and I can't mix any til it warms up.

Watching Vikings on history. 

Not what I expected.  Interesting art direction though.  I like "the ancient one".  Tent, bones, deformities.  Someone had fun with that design.
