Random crap with Uno.

I thought Signs was distant and unengaging.  I had so much trouble buying into the reality of the story that - I can't can't even come up with a metaphor/joke about it.

The Sixth Sense, on the other hand, sucked me in completely.  Completely.  I cried in the parking lot afterward.

"Sixth Sense" was one of those films which is even better the second time you're wiewing it because you're in on the joke so to speak and can watch it with a new set of eyes, "The Usual Suspects" was one of those films also. As for M Night Shyamalan so has he continued to push out crap film after crap film since his epic first film. "Unbreakable" was ok "Signs" was kinda awful with a crappy  sentimental script and an overacting Mel Gibson. And don't even get me started on "The Village", OMG...  How can he still get funding for the crap he's putting out?

No, let's get into The Village. 

It's another of the pure old school horror movies that Shyamalan is actually good at.  What's more he got nearly a full cast of method actors that he needs for that one.  And Sigourney.  No one knocks Sigourney.

Now, The Happening is just plain awful, as was his Last Airbender movie.  I'll happily concede those.  Sixth Sense folks REALLY need to go watch Stir of Echoes.  Only thing Sixth Sense is truly good for is to set your kids up for watching The Ring.

Circling in on a design for the new Chimera.  Been looking at different monstrous dogs. 

Started with the one from Lady in the Water.



But, to be a true "chimera" version, it needed something a little more...obscure.  Something nebulous to the creature. 

So, I've circled in on a Barghest. 



Barghests are most normally represented by black ghost dogs, it's true.  Usually with a green glow, which is easy enough for my Chimera designs.  But, they are also shapeshifters, showing up as people, and even bears at different times.

Then, my son has this thing on his Ipod as a wallpaper, and I caught a glimpse...love the skulls.



Currently trying to come up with a pose. I want one hand outstreatched to highlight that humanistic hand, which leaves me needing a tripod formation from the other 3 feet for stability. 

Have the conduit and chicken wire ready to go, will get going soon, but have lots of kids' crap going on now between science fairs, state reports, basketball, and ski lessons.

Hm.  Just got an email asking if I'd give a lecture on home haunt design at transworld, including designing an example at the show. 

Not gonna happen, but flattering.  First time the event organisers have invited me.  4th year in a row I've been invited, usually by wildfire.  good to see they are reaching out to the home haunter though.  It's traditionally focused strictly on the business end.

Oh, it's going to be stupid and cliche jump scares throughout, I make no pretense otherwise.  It's an original concept (for the horror genre anyway) and those are few and far between. 

I highly doubt I would buy the film, I own very few horror movies newer than 1950.


Had been waiting for an elbow injury to heal up, but got out and built a frame for the new monster today.  Think I reinjured the eblow in the process.

So you have settled on the Barghest, or what?

I would say it is heavily influenced by the Barghest, but it will definitely bear a resemblance to Chimera 1 and some definite Chimera 3 influence that would only be obvious to myself. 

Or maybe best said that it's an unorthodox Barghest.

Here's the frame as it stands.  Didn't get as far as I'd like, but I need to get some stuff monster mudded on next so I can move forward with wiring before doing more of the frame, and it's far too cold for the mud to dry properly.   

The right arm and tail both need to be adjusted and probably cut, but it's not a priority at the moment.  The arm needs the head done before final posing, and the tail needs the legs done.
