Candles...
You're probably used to seeing them with a saint or a jeebus on them.  Essentially just tall jar candles.  Popular in hispanic areas for day of the dead and Chritsmas.  I found where to get blanks. 



The jar protects the flame from the wind which makes them good for haunting.

Oh, those.  Makes a lot of sense.  Incidentally, the wax in those is sometimes really soft - handy if you need maliable wax for something.

No, just bought by the typical Halloween hoarder.

I assume you got the clean-up pretty much licked by now.  What does Uno typically do two days after the big day?

Been organizing the shop.  (the BIG sculpture stuff)  The art room is next. (the small stuff) 

Probably till the pumpkins into the garden at some point. 

Considering hanging up the C word lights.

I always jot things down immediately after Halloween.  Going through my notes.

Best costume of the night was a little knight.  About 2 years old.  Store bought, nothing special, but we were his first house ever trick or treating.  He come fully equipped with a sword, shield and helmet, and was initially scared.  After his dad explained we were the 'bad guys', he joyfully took to fighting the evil.  Didn't care much about the candy, but wanted to play more after he went through. 

Furthest travelers were from Riverton.  Hour to the south. 

"The Potter house" took themselves off "the route" last year, they have moved to the Saturday closest to Halloween for their thing.  "The Mafia House" effectively removed themselves this year by cutting back their treat handouts to a single full sized candy.  The only thing worth going there to begin with was the 'insane amounts of candy'.  This is potentially bad news for next year. 

"The Tiki Man" --> signs were spotted on the sidewalk written in chalk by local kids blocks around our place.  (We're known as "the Tiki Man" thanks to my early years here where torches and skulls with only me were the entire thing) 

Tried walkie talkies for me and Kyle to be able to communicate...wasn't worth the trouble.  Gotta figure something out there. 

Candy table >>>>>Candy bowl. 

Gigantic pixie sticks are extremely popular. 

So is soda. 

Both are cheaper than chocolate.

According to the kids it is more wonderful. 

I figure to kids Size>substance explains the pixie sticks.  Soda fills a need as kids don't get a lot of beverage options, and they typically crack them open on the spot rather than put them in the bag.  Though we did have water out as well (rather I hadn't cleaned up the water coolers from the carving party), and a lot of kids grabbed some water.

I never heard of pop for Halloween, but that does make a lot of sense - all that extortion can be hard work.

Soda and potato chips are two offerings we provide that are on the abnormal side. 

Both originate from my childhood.  A fellow who worked at pepsi would hand out pepsi, simple enough.  The chips...well, a fellow worked for clover club (local chip factory).  He'd hand out FULL SIZE BAGS, but there was a catch.  They had been deemed unfit for sale by their QA department.  They might be 'burned', or mislabeled, or what not.  So you never really knew what you were getting till you opened it. 

I tell you though, if someone was to sell burned clover club potato chips, I would buy them.

Talia's idea of what we should do next year:

"We should make it look like you have lightning.  You can build a big tower out of play doh, and paint blue lightning on it so it looks like lightning because lightning is blue, I sawd it out my window.  And then you need to paint black squiggly lines on it so it looks like it's asploding that would be scary."

You know, that's the kernel of not a bad idea.  She doesn't know about Van DeGraff generators, but I bet you could build one.  Run a wire up someone's sleeve and do some awesome effects in the dark.  Probably a lab show idea, not Halloween.


Oh crap - now I'm going to have to look into YouTubing another of my college films for you.  You'd love the Murray stuff, even though you'll find it lame.  We wanted to figure out how to do lightning effects in the dorm room, but never did.

I gotta talk BA into taking care of this - she has the vids somewhere, and the gear/knowlege to do a transfer.  I still ain't showed you The Return of the Man With the Satanic Hand, either...

Well, I think your photos and decoration is beautiful.  Why enter a joke of a contest for fuzzy bunny Halloween and not submit a lot of pictures of your girl?
