Am I the only one for whom embedded videos stopped displaying AT ALL this week?  Big ol' blank where the vid that tells you to "Watch on YouTube" goes.  -This is in IE; no change in MSEdge, and I ain't investigated any further than that...

I've had that at times and not others haven't figured why.    Might be chrome vs others.  Seems to work in chrome.

SIIIGH.  I am frequently saddened that my tech level is not in the least teh haxxor.  Being able to do something, anything, about stuff like that should be part of my job running this place.

Well, Halloween's now in the super long range forecast.  We're clear right now (if COLD), but both Saturdays (before and after) have storms. 

My experience with this thing is those tend to shift a few days one way or another as we get closer.

Confirming videos work in Chrome, but not explorer.

We're not even starting for a good 6 months, so thats a lot of design time before we get there, yeah. 

It's just such an unusual request, and something for just about anyone's portfolio.

Pretty much. 

Cost is going to determine just how involved we get.  We'd certainly prefer actual stones.  Basalt columns, or straight up boulders. 

I haven't ruled out sculpting them with hypertufa, though.

Hey Uno - is Fear Factory still going?  How did that turn out in the long run?  How about Diablo Dome?

So, Fear Factory has been running radio adds since October 1 advertising themselves as "The only REALLY haunted, haunted house in Utah."

Um, Asylum 49 would like a word, I'm sure.  And I can't be the only one that knows they've been playing the really haunted card for YEARS.

I also see via facebook that the factory is closing a couple nights a week to provide flashlight ghost tours and 'investigations', for a fee. 

Now, it's on a real factory that had a bad safety record back in the days, but I only know of 2 actual deaths.  Lots of lost limbs and things, but only the 2 deaths.  Not exactly something I would peg as a hotbed of potential, unlike the hospital above.

I had planned to get out to a haunted house last Friday, but we got rained out (Haunted forest).  I don't know that I'll make it out to one now.

Kyle and his friends went to an indoor one.  Nightmare on 13th, which is running the new model multiple small haunts.  One of them is "Dark Harvest".

Now, considering I KNOW these people watch me, and I've been running Harvest themes for 8 years now, it can't be coincidence that Kyle says the best part was a copy of the corn tunnel that had my bifurcated pumpkins all the way down it, and they moved.  If you've been following me long, you might even remember I had a mechanism to DO that once upon a time, but didn't have strong enough motors...

Hector got destroyed by 70mph wind gusts last night.  I'd been trying to shore him up with some old school Power Grab like I used to use.  But, several days of '30% possibility of showers" turning into all day long rains followed by the wind done him in. 

The sculpt is fine, he's just fallen off the shepherd's hook. 

I can either come up with a new post or reattach him to this one.  I'm not sure which way I want to go at this point. 

So.  Just so we are all on the same page. 


I work in UTAH.
On an AIR FORCE BASE.
with 60% of the work force over the age of 50.  And a good 80% are either LDS or X military. 

I've been informed that a lot of them seem to think I'm gay, and I should really stop encouraging it. 

WHY do they think I'm gay?

I have a PURPLE phone case. 
I have a PURPLE and GLITTERY pumpkin decoration I proudly display year round. 
I used to proudly flaunt a pretty PINK umbrella to block the headache inducing lights. 
I'm the only non-female who can have a comfortable conversation with the transgender man (identifies woman) who works here. 
I also comfortably associate with the 2 known gay men. 

(incidentally, of the 700+ folks that work here, I can keep those I don't like to associate with to one hand)


Why did this come up?

Because my supervisor and I now share an office, and he's uncomfortable with people thinking HE associates with a gay man. 

So, do I start bringing in lace decorations or what?

So, I added a cutesy "The Witch is In" decoration to the office, one of the ladies here gave me a cute kitty calendar, and I've got pink and purple markers for the whiteboard. 

The supervisor and his friends (like I swear the whole backwoods town he lives in works here) discuss how inappropriate it is at least once a day.  (in 'private', not to my face, not that this area is private at all)
