While the 3 wise T-Rex have traditionally been Mom, Dad, Child...I'm not blind to the fact the whole baby thing might come off as me desecrating the nativity.  Not that a dino nativity wouldn't be hilarious.  But I'd rather have the T-rexs carrying trees replace the wise men in a traditional nativity if I'm going to desecrate the scene.

I work in UTAH.
On an AIR FORCE BASE.
with 60% of the work force over the age of 50.  And a good 80% are either LDS or X military. 

I've been informed that a lot of them seem to think I'm gay, and I should really stop encouraging it. 

WHY do they think I'm gay?

I have a PURPLE phone case. 
I have a PURPLE and GLITTERY pumpkin decoration I proudly display year round. 
I used to proudly flaunt a pretty PINK umbrella to block the headache inducing lights. 
I'm the only non-female who can have a comfortable conversation with the transgender man (identifies woman) who works here. 
I also comfortably associate with the 2 known gay men. 

(incidentally, of the 700+ folks that work here, I can keep those I don't like to associate with to one hand)


Why did this come up?

Because my supervisor and I now share an office, and he's uncomfortable with people thinking HE associates with a gay man. 

So, do I start bringing in lace decorations or what?

One of the reasons we love you, UnO.  You have a very, very open mind that is coupled with a very no nonsense way of looking at and doing things.  It is unfortunate that you have to deal with those whom are almost the exact opposite (usually, your bosses and the rest of the circus...), as much as you do...

Hey Uno - is Fear Factory still going?  How did that turn out in the long run?  How about Diablo Dome?

Fear Factory runs as a paintball arena most the year.  They still do Halloween in the fall.  Just Zombies. 

I don't understand how they're still in business.  The next person I talk to that says it's worth what they are asking will be the first.  The areas I specifically had concerns about which was causing them all the trouble now operate as extra fee rides, not as part of the haunt itself. 

The Diablo place didn't listen to me on the admission, insisting tickets should be $20 for their first year haunt.  It didn't break even as a result.  Most the stuff moved to Vegas, I've heard my stuff is at Circus Circus.

Halloween houses are changing. 

The paintball experiences:  Shoot zombie actors. 
Hands on:  They can grab and move you.
Extreme:  They can restrain and torture you.
VR: small arenas with a VR headset to move about in.
Escape rooms:  Find your way out (I actually saw a predecessor to these)
"Enhanced theater":  Extremely expensive they invade your personal life, stalk you, kidnap you on your way to the car, or etc.  No crowds, just you and maybe a few others. 

I think most of these are horrid ideas. 

We don't have Lagoon passes this year, so are thinking of checking some of the ones I don't usually have time for.
