Small scale test coming next year.  I'd been thinking of how to do some pumpkin headed creatures ANYWAY.

The pumpkin's face on the postcard is extremely similar to the Moon's in the 1902 film Le voyage dans la lune.

This all gives me some devilishly twisted ideas.

Iron Cross (eisenkreuz) symbolism in your next Halloween creation(s)?  ;)

This background you researched comes completely out of the blue for me as well.
Flemings and Dutch are not too far apart German culture, especially not medieval German culture, and I've got no knowlegde of Halloween being rooted in our society that far back.

It's tricky to nail down.  Letters from bishops and accounts from Bismark's palace are smattered about and available, but that's about it.  No real descriptions of how widespread it was other than enough to sell cards.  I'd love to know more about it, but it's a brief ~50 year period that is mostly lost.

Ironically, the post cards are the most prevalent artifact left, with several German companies printing really DIFFERENT Halloween cards compared to what you see being done in America in the time period, which was a lot of the 'witches' and gazing into the mirror, or bobbing for apples type celebrations being depicted along with hijinks with kids and pumpkins.  Many of these German cards are highly sought after to collectors, apparently.

I knew what that was going to be before clicking. Been teaching people how to make this for 5 bucks since they went on sale.

So.

What is it about empty spaces that are creepy?

I mean, I worked alone in huge facilities for nearly 15 years, so mostly accustomed to it.

But, there's a skeleton crew in today and a lot of the people are a little freaked out by what are just normal things you don't normally notice when there's 1500ish people here.

This day's never ending, I swear...

Let me get this straight...

Germanic Halloween is about elves. Santa has elves.

So our current holiday war of an encroaching Christmas and a strengthening Halloween is on some level a battle of the elves, or else an elf pincer movement against Thanksgiving.

That's okay, I'm still trying to figure out the implications....

Elf decorations that could be dressed for both holidays?  Or maybe an Elf War video game with Santa and the Devil as playable factions? A re-write for "The Nightmare before Christmas" movie ?

Those who join us need only give up only half of their humanity?the illogical, ill-tempered, and disordered half, commonly thought of as 'right-brain' functioning. In exchange, the 'left-brain' capacities are increased to undreamed potentials. The tendency of Biologicals to cling instead to their individual personalities can only be attributed to archaic evolutionary tendencies.
