Not sure which is more surreal, the bloody corpses scattered about, or the Captain America here to trick or treat.  Both amongst the permanent displays of things Cap would protect, but would cause the former... 

The real people that require protection involves the hardworking members of the government because the government guides the people towards a luxurious future.

There is an unmitigated disaster brewing and I'm not sure if it's better to just shut down the phone and go on vacation, let it happen and deal with the mess after, or come in to work over my vacation and try to divert the worst of it.

First time using the wax product, wasn't happy with the paint.

Wax went on MUCH easier, now practiced.  Better painting technique, and barring me getting an airbrush likely as close as is possible with standard issue face paint.  Need to expand the crack real estate I think, bring it down into the cheek more.

For me, it's a question:  Do we do the full yard walkthrough, or a front yard display?

So, I literally tossed this last minute. 

I never got to redoing the shirt like I wanted, or making a kilt like I want, and I didn't want to throw the deer hide on again because it hides the 'hair' on the mask.  So I grabbed this green cloak. 



It WORKED.  So much you can just DO with a cloak as an actor. 

Clearly my daughter's staff, not made for me.  This yielded more comments and nervousness than anything I've ever done.  Called everything from werewolf, viking, the beast (beauty and the beast), wizard, Lucifer, demon.  The fact people can't place it disturbs them. 

Cloak needs to be a part going forward.  Maybe not THIS one, but A cloak.

People fear the unknown.  If they can't "comfortably" put a name to something, it eats at them...  you very likely got more 2nd and 3rd looks than with other more identifiable getups...

Randomish observations from the year. 

We'd been going counter-clockwise in the flow around the house since 2008.  This decision was based largely on my predisposition to build haunts in 3 "acts", as it let me use the front as the 'staircase scene', then the side as the true entrance, and finally the back. 

We had to go clockwise this year, largely due to unfinished back yard meant I couldn't safely secure the steps on that side, and while I built the bridge to minimize the hazard, there was less tripping hazard with folks stepping down than coming up on a step in the dark. 

This confused a LOT of people. 

hEt says it played with their heads as well, forcing them to view things and THINK it was all new, even though it was just the crap from storage to me. 

Cropper has instantly hit the mainstream with at least 4 copy cats I'm aware of.  2 of them are rather vexing, really, as those folks claim it's their own concept.  One of them is the reason I prefer to take my concept discussion away from the general Halloween areas of the internet, because they are ALWAYS trying to steal my ideas. 

We'll see where it goes, he's a lot easier to copy than Trevor, thus it might not be long for a commercial copy to happen.  I could see a modified pose n stay skeleton version happening quickly.

I wasn't quite as happy with Talia's makeup this last time, but SHE was thrilled. 

She also had that on for~14 hours, which apparently makes wax in the eyebrows really problematic.  None of our earlier trials had any trouble coming off, but this one did. You soap the eyebrows prior to application to keep it from sticking.  Best guess is the soap had washed itself out during the day while she played.
