Turn 26: I meet Friedrich... neutral greeting, wary of wasting influence points. Decide not to pursue any treaties at this time.
Ben wants to start a research collab, I can support for 6 science at the cost of 60 influence, accept for no influence and 2 sci/turn, or Reject his buttface... I choose to support as it seems the research collab will continue indefinitely and the 6 science will outweigh the influence spend.
I get a "Celebration" because I'm an oligarchy I get +20% food and +30% building construction bonus for options, I go with the food.
I earn another gov'ment policy, this time I go Charismatic Leader for the +2 culture per turn.
WAR Hoplite 1 attacks the Izirtu slinger for 56 damage.

Turn 27: I get another social policy, Survey +1 gives range to my scout.
I attack Izirtu's slinger and defeat it with Hoplite 1.

Turn 28: Xerxes' scout is following Hoplite 1 for safety.  Hoplite 1 is very wounded.
Military commander and Hoplite 3 are fully healed, walking towards Hoplite one to make a larger army.
Scout puts up a new tower at the end of the NE peninsula... spots another coast but no other details.

Turn 29: Get a warning for too low of a culture score.
Set scout to auto-explore as I've got the basics of the map down.
Commander lands on Hoplite 1. Can't pull them into the army until next turn.

Turn 30: Korinthos has grown and can now spend gold for improvements. I expand towards a gold resource.
I set the army to heal itself.

Well Gang, I'm probably not going to play this particular game all the way to the end, not enough enjoyment after 30 turns to want to stay on it.  I might try a smaller map with fewer civs and see if that makes it more fun, but I really feel like it's lacking the magic.  I still get sucked into games of CivII and CivIII, maybe it's nostalgia, but it's not fun in its current state.

...We could have a three folder, if there was demand; wilkes is a III-head, and I'd like to suck him in active in the community...

Personally, I even prefer Beyond Earth over CiVI to this day.
Though I do like the Districts part on CiVI better.

Thanks for sharing. Does your version of the game have Alexander the Great or not?

I didn't see him... Kind of annoyed that the old classics are mostly absent.  Feels like a pre-planned DLC cash grab.

* Random quote

You see in this dome the intermingling of native and earth plants. Outside, they are competitors, struggling over the trace elements required for life. Often, one destroys the other. Here, they are tended with care and kept well nourished. They thrive together, and the native fungus does not unleash its terrible defenses. As you can see, competition is unnecessary when resources are plentiful and population growth is controlled.
