Nasa has a big announcement to make about oceans on other planets – watch it live

Nasa is set to announce new discoveries in a teleconference on Thursday held at the agency's headquarters in Washington, DC.

The discoveries were made by the Cassini spacecraft and the Hubble Space Telescope and will guide future missions to explore other worlds for extraterrestrial life, Nasa said in a statement.

The focus of the conference will be on worlds within our own solar system.

Members of the public are welcome to ask Nasa questions throughout the briefing using the hastag #AskNASA.

The scientists on hand to deliver the news and answer questions will include Jim Green, director, planetary science division at Nasa headquarters, Mary Voytek, astrobiology senior scientist at Nasa headquarters, and Linda Spilker, Cassini project scientist at Nasa's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.

Titan, Enceladus and Dione are reported to have respectively 'lakes' and a subsurface oceans, and nothing conclusively known from other Saturnian satellites. Perhaps something came up on either Rhea or Tethys?
