1:  Egypt
because of Mummies.

2: Romania
because of Dracula

3: England
because of Harry Potter


I don't think the teacher is expecting these kinds of reasons.  I'm also fairly confident no one in the class would pick Romania.

As to Chinese homework- I'm baffled.

Not that I know Chinese characters beyond being able to differentiate them on Mahjong tiles, or words beyond what we used in Kung fu classes, but this looks to me like somebody swapped some stuff out on a math work sheet  for Chinese characters.

I thought Chinese was read right to left, but there are question marks on the right. 

Do the Chinese even use Arabic numerals?

Perhaps Chinese math works left to right, I have no idea. It doesn't "Add up" for me.

I would avoid confusing Talia by trying to sort this one out, and send the teacher a note explaining that the website is down, and you can't understand the Chinese instructions. Ask if they could please provide printed English instructions until the website is operational.

I'm pretty sure they don't use Arabic except in documents aimed at foreigners, which are probably not in Chinese in the first place.  And doesn't the writing go top to bottom?

Yeah, I think they're just swapping the characters right now so as to not confuse their english teaching.  The reading portion of the program doesn't really kick into high gear until after grade school.  Right now, the chinese is mostly math and science...how you do the latter without reading is going to be interesting. 

I'm confident it's addition problems in the "A+B=C" format.  The problem is we only have "A" as far as I can see, unless "B" is supposed to be 0, but that doesn't fit the examples up top.  I think either the bottom end is all supposed to = 6, so "3 + X =6" and you write in the 3 and draw 3 dots...

or, I'm totally lost. 

This is a big packet not due to next monday.  Bless her heart, the kids are home for about an hour before I get home from work.  She did the entire thing herself.  Did most of it WRONG, but she buckled down and did her homework.  New rule:  let dad get home before you start on that.  Alec, however, could learn a thing from her.
