yeah.  Mid Terms yesterady.  He can hide the fact he's been not doing his homework only so long.  "oh, I did it at school"  Which, granted the stupid school gives them a (mandatory for some idiotic reason) study hall period so it was conceivable, and true for the first term. 

Course in the age of computers, we can just log in and see exactly what he's missing, so his mounting lies of what happened came crashing down.  Sure, some kid hacked the school's web page in an attempt to take it down and I'm sure many parents wouldn't be able to, but I wasn't born yesterday and know how to get in the back door. 


And it's a assignment of getting a couple current events and writing a synopsis every week he's been skipping.  I mean, seriously, that's like a 5 minute assignment not even worth going to the trouble of lying/avoiding. 

At least when I skipped out of things it was 4 entire days of class every week, and I had a car and a job, so that last period really wasn't appealing anyway.  (besides the tests were 80% of your grade and only on fridays so I got a straight B in the class anyway, really wish someone would have explained beforehand that physics = the calculus class I took the year before so I could have taken the more advanced calculus instead.  Chemistry first period was equally boring and made a fair few breakfast breaks, but at least we got to do some interesting experiments in there.)

Gorgeous fog this morning.  Rather rare here, I should move somewhere it's more common.

Only place I really know about is in California.  Fog every morning just about there. 

I would imagine around the great lakes might be suitable weather for it. 

There's a stretch in Southern Utah that had some most excellent ground fog while I was driving through, but I don't know how common that was.  Certainly worth looking into.  NOTHING around there.  Perfect for me to retire and build a sculpture garden.

Oh, anywhere with decent humidity and not terribly high daytime temperatures all the time should do it for fog.

I've debated this short film with many horror buffs over the years:

However, there's 30 seconds at the 12 minute mark I think the movie would be better without.  Would like an opinion from someone not jaded.

Interesting coincidence - Monday, I had three crowns removed and two molars extracted.  Taking a tranquilizer as I left for the Dentist's helped a lot, but my mouth still hurts today.  I think I can speak to this one with a little authority.


To really get the horror of being in the chair?  Less talk, more -extremely bright light in your eyes and the sound of the drill cranked up loud and sustained for 45 seconds at a time, minmum.  The "dentist" in this was way, way, way too fast, which really missed an opportunity - bypassing the true horror for something fake.  Make it that the valium shot was actually a paralyzing agent and the anesthetic a placebo.  It just goes on and on and on, the blinding light and the sound of the drill, on and on, almost choking on the blood and spit pooling at the back of the throat, unable to swallow, unable to move, unable to escape or even get a few seconds relief...

And no, the 30 seconds you speak of were just gross, not scary.

He notes that the lady at the door will probably be able to keep you from choking or bleeding to death if you don't have too many complications from the drugs.  Says his last line as you fade to black, passing out helpless...
