I think you misunderstand how the illusion works.  If you're inside the tunnel, you can't see anything out of it.  If you're outside, you can't see in.  So, if I put the tunnel in, say father's chest, you'd not see father, only the tunnel...until you walked out of the tunnel.

tunnel pointing down from the inside of the head/body is what I was thinking.  Maybe with the fog Generator outlet in the center, on the ground or both in the head/body and on the ground (within the tunnel).

Oh, I see what you mean.  Afraid that would just make it look like a cone underneath. (though ironically I think that would make a really cool christmas tree, fog coming out of the star, tunnel making a cone) 

Prop wise, I think the best use would be akin to the barghest.  Might have been interesting to see that with a few of the laser floors spitting out his back.

Well, you California people could probably get away with a $40 fog machine.  Homemade tunnels are about $30.

100+ emails form panicked students about an online tutorial I wrote...9? 10? years ago.  I've long known this tutorial was used in a couple med classes around the country, but I don't think it's ever been for a final before.  But, no, I don't have what they need.  They'll have to figure out the wrist, feet, and individual vertebrae on their own.  Everything else, I cover.
