I’ve got my next design step planned, and with it goes what I need from lighting, so that will influence whatever we decide to do with the head.

Well, this here is what Clarence (the new K5) with the best Kit lens (zoom) Pentax ever made can do on full auto, straight to JPEG no post processing.

I find it a little cumbersome to shoot with at times as there's a lot of stuff I need to figure out how to adjust. 

Genuinely surprised by the indoor quality. 
The light/shadow out by the circle could have been handled better. 
A little too bright in the full sun. 

All these are things I can adjust in the menu on how I want the camera to automagically handle those situations, I just need to read how to adjust them.

Lighting/camera test. 

Only a basic shape placeholder testing various ways to play the light, settled on this. 

Side by side on the cameras.  I pulled Clarence out of auto, and ran it full manual (same kit lens), saved as a raw file, and processed bot it and Vera exactly the same in photoshop so that the difference is entirely the camera processors and censors:   

Clarence.  Clean, clinical.  I can see how this would be adventageous for certain shots. 



Vera still delivers that esoteric dreamy quality I love her for.

looks like they were taken at least a half hour apart, with the difference in background lighting...

That is entirely due to the light meters in the respective cameras. 

Where it’s telling you is “right”. 

The automatic pic out of Clarence looked like noon.  So some of it is due to some of those meter settings I use on Vera to get the nighttime look I want.   Vera only worries about the subject in lighting.  Clarence is trying to balance the entire shot.

Crazy.  I forgot how detailed lighting and photography can get.

If I was shooting that "for effect", I would have had my tripod, remote, handheld light meter, and probably doing a super long exposure to get it just right. 

So, Clarence and I tag teaming here as I put him in Semi-Auto.  I'd control one or two settings and let him manage the rest.  (don't ask me what photoshop did to the stamp here...I was just converting from raw in there, it's never messed that up before.)









Unfortunately a proper macro lens for Clarence is quite pricey.  The Bokeh on these could be a hell of a lot smoother.
