This particular topic, as indicated by the title, should help collect the questions about specific features in SMAC(X). I thought a thread of this type would help reduce the clutter in this forum. I will begin with a question about Native Life. What factors determine the morale level of Alien controlled native life?

This is the procedure at 501350, if you want to look at it yourself.

For fungal towers, it is purely dependent on the number of fungus squares around the tower.  At 2 or fewer, it's hatchling, otherwise add 1 level per square after the second (up to demon boil with all 8).

Otherwise, the primary factor is game year: 0-44: hatchling.  45-89: larval mass.  90-169: pre-boil. 170-249: boil.  250-329: mature boil.  330+: demon boil (it skips great boil, though the later steps can result in it being a great boil).

Add 1 if you (meaning the owner of the unit it's fighting, or (I think) the player looking at it) are getting extra ecodamage due to atrocities or equivalent.  Add 1 if the unit is anything other than Locusts of Chiron.  Add more if certain flags are on (1 for the flag at 95282C for the first unit, bit 1 00, and for the flags at 952830 for the first unit, 1 for bit 8 and 2 for bit 10).  If this pushes it above demon boil, it's just a demon boil.
