NASA seeks tenant for historic Cleveland hangarCLEVELAND (WJW) – NASA Glenn Research Center is looking for a tenant for its historic aircraft hangar.
The Flight Research Building was built in 1941 and is no longer being used by NASA, according to its website.
While NASA says it was once a cornerstone of the aviation work at Glenn Research Center, they are hoping the Flight Research Building could become home to other aerospace companies.

The property spans 6.7 acres, including a 160-by-280-foot heated hangar and the 5,947-square-foot Operations and Integration Building. Historically, the hangar has sheltered aircrafts used for research ranging from ice accumulation studies to streaming 4K video via laser communications to the International Space Station, according to NASA.
Proceeds from the lease would be used to maintain Glenn facilities.
NASA announced last year that it was looking at ways to “reduce the cost of maintaining assets they aren’t currently using.”
That included several areas at Glenn Research Center in Cleveland and NASA’s Neil Armstrong Test Facility in Sandusky. They say it’s just a part of keeping up with evolving technology.
“Glenn is making great progress as we modernize our Cleveland and Sandusky campuses to support NASA’s future missions,” said Dr. Jimmy Kenyon, Glenn’s center director.
Proceeds from this lease will be used to maintain Glenn facilities and infrastructure, NASA said.
