I just found this blog thanks to SSC; it's a series of intensive analyses of battles in pop culture.  He spends six lengthy posts analyzing the siege of Gondor, for example, and it's great edutainment.  Feel free to chime in with your own favorites, though this will keep me busy for some time--the guy's been writing for a year now.
