The joke I want to make in response is too vulgar for a classy place, alas.

To put my point above another way - politicians trying to fix the educational system always end up being one of the most fundamental drags on the system - they come up with programs that don't work, and it just adds an entire 'nother set of system borks on top of the mistakes the educators continue to make.  -Education and the space program alike, I swear, would be better off left to only the set of mistakes the professionals make.
