How to verify a mod is correctly "installed"
« on: October 16, 2016, 07:02:44 pm »
Hello,

I've just installed the game (this version https://www.gog.com/game/sid_meiers_alpha_centauri), downloaded the Vicious AI mod (a zip with txt files), unzipped it into the main game folder, overwritting the same-named-files, and started the game.

But upon creating a new game, it seems that the mod is not "active": I don't see changes (in this case in the difficulty level names)

So, how to make sure a mod is correctly installed? :)

First question: are you using Vanilla or Crossfire? Is the mod specifically built for one of these?

Mod changes come in different packages. You'll have to ask someone else about changed difficulty level names but even if that didn't work correctly, the other rules probably did. Vicious AI starts the Spartans off with perimeter defenses in every base (if memory serves). Load it up and see if they benefit from that.

Learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone, for they warp the matrix through which we perceive the world. Extend your awareness outward, beyond the self of body, to embrace the self of group and the self of humanity. The goals of the group and the greater race are transcendent, and to embrace them is to achieve enlightenment.
