Title: Interactive Scale of the Universe
Post by: Lord Avalon on January 19, 2014, 10:19:21 pm
Apparently Cary & Michael Huang made this interactive scale of the universe in 2012, but I just ran across it at Astronomy Picture of the Day (http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap140112.html).  It goes from Planck length to the estimated size of the universe (about 19 gigaparsecs). You can click on things for a popup info box.  8) ;b;

I know neutron stars are small but I never really had a sense of scale until seeing this. A typical neutron star is smaller than Rhode Island.

And one day, Sol will be the size of Earth. ;)
