Title: Earning content based awards.
Post by: Dio on September 07, 2013, 05:04:23 am
Is their specific and set criteria for earning a content based award? For example, I have made several AAR's and earned an AAR award. Yet, I have also made and edited a faction editing guide that got submitted by ete to the forum wiki and created a fan fiction ("Albert's Locusts of Chiron") for the planet tales forum? So do the other awards have set criteria in order to earn them and if so, what are they? I imagine that to earn them you have to do exceptional quality work and not just a set number but it is still something that has been nagging me.

See this thread http://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?topic=2440.0 (http://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?topic=2440.0)  I'll work on any badges anyone suggests, and as you'll see there, go through a lot of drafts to get it right.  I don't recall if I've worked on a wiki contributor badge for sure, and who gets one is ete's call, and I'm in the process of getting my server access fixed, and then I'll be able to upload and award - you deserve something for that guide, and you're at least halfway to earning an .exe modder designation, which I leave to Yitzi to determine when you're there.

-Of course, there's still quiz maker and quiz winner badges you can go for, and I believe you've already earned a fiction writer badge, which I'll go take care of now.

-Also, there's big EC to be earned posting files to Downloads, and a badge has been made for that, too, though not uploaded yet...

Sometimes I need reminding of things like badge awarding - no need to be shy about prodding me.

EDIT: The wiki badge is installed already and you wrote something for the wiki, so I'm going to go ahead and add you to that.  Enjoy the snazzy additions to your postbit, sir.

It turns out I do have a way to add badges already, so the Downloads Contributor badge is up - now I need to spend some time in Downloads making sure I get everyone...

Okay, I just created the Custom Faction Modder award w/ the flag icon Jarl made, and have added ariete, BUncle, Dio, ete, Green1, Kilkakon, JarlWolf and Sigma.  There are more - anyone care to point them out to me?

Do, for instance, the factions Geo put together for his Mars scenario, a copy of which we have in Downloads, count?  How about millions Darsnan has done over the years, but not here?  We carry SMAniaC, so does Maniac get a flag for the custom factions he created and/or customized from previous work, or would that be double-dipping to grant in combination with the badge he deserves for that Major TCM?

What am I not thinking of?  See the other thread for working out the icons, and post in this one to suggest who should be badged...

Thoughts?

Hall of Fame.  sisko and I discussed wanting to have a HOF a long time ago - why don't I make a badge?  I need to look up who he suggested, but Uno goes first, for all his support.

Done.  -For Kil, too.

I think this one will be owner's discretion.

Installed an .exe Modder badge last night -remembered as I was shutting down for bed and came back to do- and have awarded scient, kyrub and Yitzi.

Thanks to Jarl for the design.
