Title: Map Concept

A 2d hex map will be created using Worldographer (2025 Beta edition).

Players will interact with the map through a fog of war system, simulating the experience of high-risk exploration in the original game. They will also be able to trade maps after making contact with other factions. They can also recover survey information from salvage. Eventually, they will be able to launch satellites to conduct orbital surveys that reveal the map completely.

Each unimproved hex will have a default yield of between 1 and 4 of the following four resource types each turn: nutrients, minerals, water, and energy, depending upon the terrain type.

It will also be possible to tunnel beneath the terrain, provided a faction has researched the correct technologies and built appropriate unit types.
