Any chance we can add the two patches we know that solves the Win 11 crash bug up top?

That is primarily what people will be looking for until GOG and Steam decide to enforce not selling nonworking games.

Hmm.  Good idea.

That's a PortMx block thing I've actually never touched - but I think those are just Downloads links and I can totally add the Biggs Patch and bump Induktio over scient.

-HowEVER, they really ought to be clearly labeled as W11 patches for this purpose, so I really ought to make a new block -not sure I know how- and just list Induktio twice.  Does Biggs do anything else, does anyone know?

Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention.  I'll look into it.

Hey My Peoplez - just to point out that Yr Humble Dictator luvs when the people seize power this way - point out good ideas and I'll do it if I'm up to it and agree, and this is how you take your power over our online home and make it better.

Anything you can take care of without needing me, even better -blinks- unless you mess it up, and partial points for trying even then...

Well, there's some other weirdness that deals with multiple monitors and SMAX, too. Seems it -really- does not like UHD monitors. But making my laptop screen main screen helped that.

There's also the fact I could not figure out how to apply these to Steam version.

I know there's a way to look in files to do it (I think I had to do something in some files of a map maker program one time) but it did not work.

Also, seems both GOG and Steam version for some reason don't play Miriam's ambient music instead playing alien music in SMAX. Not that I usually listen to it because some of the themes grate the ears after a few minutes of it.

But working is a good place to be.

That's because Reddit buries things and r/alphacentauri points to our out of date wiki article on it's side bar.

Sure. I will get to it later tonight because I am sure that article has more to it that is out of date than just adding a line if I start looking.

But wiki stuff is almost a part time job and most game communities that don't near pay someone to do it gets behind. At least SMAC/X does not have lots of changes like something still being developed, but it still deprecates after a while.

-I'd submit that adding that line is still the place to start, then we'd have that done.

As experiment, I was able to add a crude first line last night over the article
"A Windows 11 patch is here: https://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=384"

Be lovely if something more apt was incorporated -but prominent like that- and any punching up the article needs was still done.  That reddit sidebar link makes the page a front-facing one for us, thus VERY important to not bring one buttock to bear on it...

Yeah. I just did not have a whole bunch of time that day as I know if I look at wikis, I get distracted and start changing things because things bug me when I needed to put in token work and a map for a DnD game I run Monday Nights for like 5-6 folks on Roll 20. That and getting Foundry ready. Foundry is a beast.

Yeah, I did it at bedtime in Chrome w/ my admin DL -Admin status showing in that account could have made a difference- there were slowness shenanigans, and I'm always multitasking and, having forgotten, I didn't check back until morning by accident - and the edit was up.  Can't say how long it took.

Woo.  I just made an AC Wiki edit that makes me very happy, done as this account, no muss, no fuss, no wait.

We are a forum that has a Wiki associated - it was NEVER any other way.
