Title: Clean re-install advice

Long story short........I'm in the process of a clean re-install of Windows and everything else. Vis a vis SMAC, would I be better off re-installing from my original CD and then applying one of the excellent patches available from here, or would it be simpler/easier/better to just buy it again from GOG?

I don't have an original CD.  I bought the game twice on CD in the past, and snapped it in half twice.  I'm using a GOG binary.  It works.  So it is not possible for you to be "better off" with an original CD.

Anger issues aside (:P), I'd say its easier to get the GOG patch. And if you feel the need, apply the mods to your hearts content.
