Microsoft's Windows 10 Creators Update:
My PC itself has shown no issues at all. It took only 40 minutes total to download and install the Update. I didn't do any preparation except a restart before going to Windows Update and manually starting it.

How are other SMAC/X players are faring with this so far?

In-game I do see one small thing: When a unit is executing a "Move To" order, there is a noticeable pause before the unit icon actually moves at the beginning of its turn. This didn't happen before the Update. It makes no difference if I use Game Mode. All drivers are up-to-date. I'm using Yitzi's 3.5d patch. I don't use PRACX. I'm mentioning this as an item of curiosity, not a big concern; I can live with it.

This got fixed "accidentally."
I was investigating something else and enabled PRACX like so:

No more pauses!
