Title: game crshing any random time now

i have been playing with the Gog version of smac and smax for a while now.
recently though about a month or 2-3 weeks ago my games would crash when i would try to open the orbital panel to check on satellites.
well i tried reinstalling and using yitzi patch 3.5 now, but for past few days game crashed any random time now while im playing.
i dont have to do any thing specific, one time i pressed end turn and it was going till my turn again then crashed.
i reloaded and it went through but crashed on next turn.  all this is terran exe  stopped working.
 any advice please

ok i think i found out when it crashes.  it seems to be when the fungus pops ,and maybe spawn worms, but i just ran a few turns and it wont go past a fungal pop

Looks like a question for Yitzi.
If you post a savegame here in this thread, he or someone else will check it for you.
It will help to post your alphax.txt and Alpha Centauri.ini as well.

You should have an "Alpha Centuri.ini" file in your SMACX root folder - it's a configuration file with your startup settings, auto-generated by the game each time you change them.  My machine doesn't want to show the file extension, which I suspect is throwing you off...

As others have said, providing your alphax.txt file, as well as the exact version of the patch (is it 3.5, 3.5b, etc) is the first step to figuring out the issue.  A savegame might be useful as well, but if it's happening every game then it probably can be solved without a savegame.

Can someone tell me what the wording is that you add at the bottom of the .ini file, in order to get the game to run on a current version of Windows?  I saw it somewhere on here yesterday but today, now that I have my computer back from the shop, I can't find it.  Thanks.
