Hmm?
Although I haven't played it, it looks like a really huge DLC to Civ V.
So if you've played that and like it, you will probably like this. I've seen enough videos to know I likely wont.

Anyone WITH the game?

I wasn't totally opposed to the IDEA of Civ V...

Tell me this, does BE have INTEGRATED PBEM?  Or Pitboss?    Not the slapshot hotseat workaround [nonsense] we had to do with Civ V (maybe they eventually added support/pitboss to civ V after I lost interest or in one of the expansions, it's been a while.)

No integrated PBEM and no Pitboss.
Hotseat can be used for PBEM though..

Is this similar to how SMAC/X PBEM works (instead of starting the next player's turn, you can save and quit and then send the savegame to the next player), or can you only save while it's a player's turn (which would cause problems in terms of seeing some of the last or next player's stuff)?

Right now is similar to how SMACX PBEM works.

i played one game of it.  It made me miss SMAC, so I went to GOG and bought SMAC, a 15 year old game I hadn't played in 13 years, instead, and I'm much happier playing it.

It wasn't that I found anything particularly bad rule-wise in that one game, it's more that everything was too generic for me to care about it--all the factions had the same bland personalities, there's a complete lack of in-game movies, wonders are so pathetically weak that rather than defining your faction they just stamp you with "I'm an idiot, I spent 20 turns building *this*," and when you easily win your first game, your reward is a "You win" pop-up that doesn't even show any stats.

It felt like a game about half finished to me, a basic ruleset ready to have the stuff that would make it fun added to it, which they never got around to doing.

Latest update from devs mentions "ongoing MP improvements". There is still hope.

Yes, but I think the patch will focus more on major bugs than on new features (see resync problems, facilities disappearing when loading a saved game, etc).

The upcoming patch was mentioned in yesterday's stream. Anyone seen it?
